How to write a nanny profile that gets you hired

Families decide in about 20 seconds whether to reach out. Here are the seven moves that consistently turn browsers into inquiries — and the common mistakes that quietly kill conversion.

Share this:

The seven moves

  1. 1Start with a real photo
  2. 2Two sentences, not a paragraph
  3. 3Specifics, not adjectives
  4. 4Maximize trust signals
  5. 5Say what you don't do
  6. 6Include rates if you can
  7. 7Update at least quarterly
1

Start with a real photo

The single biggest move. Profiles with photos consistently receive multiples more inquiries than profiles without.

Do

Clear, well-lit, recent photo of just you. Looking at the camera. Neutral background or in motion.

Skip

Group shots. Selfies in cars. Photos with the kids you used to nanny. Stock images. Anything taken before 2022.

Why it works:families don't want to hire someone who feels evasive about their own image. A photo is the cheapest trust signal you have.

2

Two sentences, not a paragraph

Families skim. Lead with what you do and what's distinctive about you. Save the storytelling for the interview.

Vanilla — gets glossed over

"Hardworking and reliable nanny seeking a family that values loving care and attention for their children."

Specific — gets a reply

"Full-time nanny for 6 years, mostly infants and toddlers. CPR-certified, comfortable with twins, looking for M–F with one or two kids under 5."

Try this template:"[Role] for [N] years, mostly with [age range]. [Distinctive credential or experience]. [Schedule/situation I'm looking for]."

3

Specifics, not adjectives

"Reliable" and "loving" appear in every profile and tell families nothing. Replace each adjective with a concrete example.

Adjective (skip)Specific (use)
Reliable"Same family for 4 years"
Loving"I plan two outdoor activities a day"
Organized"I prep one meal per shift"
Patient"Comfortable with picky eaters and tantrums"
Trustworthy"Currently paid through NannyKeeper with verified payroll history"
4

Maximize the trust signals families weigh

NannyKeeper auto-displays activity-based badges on your profile. They come from your real work history — you can't fake them, which is exactly why families weight them. Optimize for these:

  • Direct deposit verified

Set up Stripe Connect so your bank is verified through NannyKeeper.

  • Payroll continuity

Don't gap. Continuous months of payroll history through us is a top family signal.

  • Time-tracking active

Log shifts in the app weekly. Shows you're actively working — not a dormant profile.

  • Certifications

CPR, First Aid, NCS, swim safety — add what's current.

5

Say what you don't do

Families filter for fit, not for the most flexible nanny. The inquiries you skip by being specific would have been awkward conversations anyway.

No overnights
Don't drive
Cats only, no dogs
Weekdays only
Not available August
Don't cook meals
6

Include rates if you can

Half the families browsing won't reach out without seeing a rate. Listing a range filters out price-mismatch inquiries and signals you've thought about your worth.

Example wording:"$28–32/hr depending on hours and responsibilities" reads as confident and discussable. Single flat numbers feel inflexible; ranges invite the conversation.

Not sure what to charge? See our 2026 rates-by-state guide.

7

Update at least quarterly

Profiles untouched for 90 days get a "may not be currently available" notice. Even a one-word update resets the clock — and signals to families that you're active.

Five quick edits to refresh your profile in under a minute

  • Add a certification you renewed (CPR, First Aid)
  • Bump your years of experience
  • Tweak your availability ("now open to Fridays")
  • Adjust your rate
  • Add a skill you learned (a new language, sleep training, etc.)

Quick self-check before you publish

If you can check all seven, families browsing your profile will be a much more qualified pipeline than if you skipped any.
