Customer story

“NannyKeeper has been a Godsend.”

Brandon Buttler is a household employer in Georgia. He signed up for NannyKeeper before his first tax season as a nanny employer. This is what he wrote when we asked if we could share his experience.

Before NannyKeeper

Becoming a household employer for the first time is heavier than it sounds. There's an EIN to apply for, federal and state tax registrations to navigate, withholding tables that don't obviously apply to one employee, and a Schedule H most household employers have never heard of until April.

Brandon found NannyKeeper while looking for a payroll service that could handle all of that without charging $75–100 a month for the privilege.

What changed

We don't want to put words in Brandon's mouth, so here's the first thing he sent us — unprompted — about two months after signing up:

I am very thankful you created this! Awesome product!

Then on Tax Day — April 15 — he wrote us a longer note when we asked if we could quote him on the reviews page. We're publishing it verbatim:

NannyKeeper has been a Godsend! It clearly laid out everything that I had to process and complete and it did it in a way that eased all the anxiety I had starting this up. It's already provided a lot of value, but I'm sure it'll pay for itself when it's tax season. No other service was as affordable or as communicative as this one. For real, it's been a great experience.

What we hear in this

Three things stand out, because Brandon volunteered them without being prompted.

  1. “It clearly laid out everything.” The product walks you through what to do, when to do it, and why. Household employer tax compliance has a lot of pieces — we don't expect first-time employers to know which forms apply to them.
  2. “Eased all the anxiety.”This is the part competitors don't talk about. People hire a nanny because they need help — not because they want to study IRS Publication 926. The product's job is to make the tax compliance disappear into the background.
  3. “No other service was as affordable or as communicative. ” NannyKeeper's Starter plan is $10/month. HomePay and GTM Payroll start at $75/month or more for one employee. The “communicative” half of Brandon's note is something other customer reviews consistently echo.

About this story

Brandon was not paid, comped, or otherwise incentivized for these quotes. He gave explicit permission to use his real name and state on our reviews and customer-story pages.
